Movie Monday

Okay, so ideally my blog will be more than just movie reviews.  I still need to plug the camera into the computer...I'll put it on this week's to do list.

Here are the movies I caught this week.

Traitor

Traitor *** (Red Box)  This was Tom's choice.  It was pretty good, required a bit of thought to keep up.  It had some suprises and is one of those storylines that makes you wonder if this could really happen...or if it does really happen?  Overall, I liked it and reccommend it.  It's a good one to watch with the menfolk-some action, but not too much.

Bride Wars (2009) Poster

Bride Wars ** (theater)  Chick Flick - I went with some girlfriends to this movie, which is always fun.  The movie started out pretty good, but after the first half went downhill quickly.  There were some funny parts, well funny lines here and there.  I will say the movie made references to Kate Hudson's character having a chubby past...c'mon, that's pretty ridiculous.  I might watch this again with my mom or sister, maybe I'd like it better, knowing the second half isn't that good.   Though the lead characters are hot, I don't think any man would appreciate watching this one, save it for a girls night or a hunting weekend, and don't bother seeing it in the theater-more of a rental.

Cast Away (2000) Poster

Castaway *** (caught it on tv, and we own it) SPOILER ALERT This is Tom's favorite movie.  ???  I think he likes the perseverence and that the ending isn't a cliche happy ending.  I remember seeing it in the theater-it was so intense, the plane crash, the tooth pulling, the despair of being stranded, the amazement of a rescue, going home and realizing that life has moved on without you.  Okay, it is a good movie and a great story.  It is also long.  We just watched the beginning-I can't really take more than that.  If I could just fast forward the rescue I would have, but it was on tv, so I just flipped the channel.

A Cinderella Story (2004) Poster

A Cinderella Story ** (tv)  This one is better than Another Cinderella Story.  I just watched the end tonight, but I've been sucked in by this movie before.  As far as Cinderella movies go, I actually like this one.  As I mentioned before, I'm not a Hillary Duff fan.  I do like that this movie is pretty clean.  I don't like it when they put innuendos and inappropriate/tacky stuff in teeny bopper movies.   SPOILER ALERT  One thing that really bugs me about this movie is the 'Prince Charming' who runs off the football field at a crucial moment in the game-talk about letting your team down.  The step mother in this movie is so horrendous, I think it's funny.  Tom watched the end with me(in fact, I think we watched the end of this which led into the beginning of Castaway-gotta love TNT and TBS on the weekends)...I had to keep making apologies for watching this one.  "Oh, this part is pretty lame."  "Oh, wait this next scene is  pretty dumb, too."  Why then do I watch these silly movies...and more than once?  I don't know.  But, Tom loves me anyway.  If you haven't seen it, and you've got time on your hands, go for it.  It would probably be a good one while sewing, folding laundry, etc.  You know, so you're not totally wasting your time.  (Not that I have a problem with that...)

WILSON! THat is my favorite part of Castaway. Very intriguing movie. I like the ending, too. Maybe ending it with him at a cross roads looking at his options is a little obvious, but I thought it was cool.

Okay, I totally made Darren watch the end of 'A Cinderella Story' this weekend, too. Actually, he caught me watching the end... again. I went back to the kissing part and made him watch with me. It is a cute flick, but I agree with you --what a lame guy to leave right before the last play of the game. Finish the game, take a shower, and then go find the girl...

Sad that Bride WArs isn't that great, but now I'll wait for it to come out on video...

Bren-LOL...we are so similar in so many ways, our poor husbands. I'm glad you can be my movie/tv/book friend. I just got Frenemies today-I called Tom to warn him that I probably won't get much done because I'm excited to just plop down and read. :)

I like that you're doing movie reviews. I saw Bride wars a few weeks ago and thought it was ok. I tend to not hate movies that I spend $10 to watch. It makes me feel even worse for wasting my time and money. But I have not problem not watching a dumb redbox.

I love that part of Castaway, too. I guess I appreciate the strong sense of reality. I mean, how cheesy would the movie have been if she had waited....
