As of this Monday Tom and I will have been married EIGHT years! My sister is getting married in August, so we are in the throws of wedding plans. It makes me reflect on my wedding day...so for Friday Five I am going to share five wedding day memories.
(FYI, this is my brother's wedding cake. None of my wedding photos are on the computer.)
1. My mom was totally stressed. I think this is just how moms are on wedding days.
2. I felt totally calm. I knew what I was doing and I was excited and happy...and I knew my mom could take care of all the details.
3. I loved my big dress. Oh, how I wish could still fit in it...I would run upstairs right now and put it on. I was seriously born too late. After living in Louisiana as a girl I have always wanted to be a Southern belle. Why don't we get to wear big, fancy dresses anymore? Wouldn't it be awesome?
4. Arby's. After the temple ceremony, and before the reception Tom and I hit the Arby's drive through. How romantic, right? Here's the funny thing, after moving into homes in Texas and Minnesota, our first meal has also been at Arby's. Not planned. I guess there is just something special for us there.
5. The cake. I really liked the look of our cake. I realize no one else remembers it, but I really liked it. What do you think about wedding cake smashing...I am opposed to it. I mean, seriously, you are at a nice party, not a food fight. It's just tacky. Plus, after all that primping, don't mess the girl's makeup and hair-and the beautiful dress! Not to mention, that is a perfectly good piece of cake your smooshing. I gave Tom strict instructions regarding the cake...then I smashed it in his face. What can I say? The moment overcame me. It was a great way to start our marriage though. :)

Smashing cake (in Kevin's face) was something I looked forward to ever since I was little. It was definitely a highlight to our wedding day. :) But, naturally, there is no way he could do it back to me. That's why he went first, so I could retaliate ten-fold.
Great list! Congratulations on eight years! Your wedding was beautiful -- I still have a picture of you in your dress, and yes, we should all get to wear big ball gowns once in a while. I remember how beautiful the bodice was...
